Did someone just say Sabrina Ionescu vs. Stephen Curry in a 3-Point Challenge? I think she just said, “challenge accepted” by this tweet.
Oregon’s women’s basketball legend, Sabrina Ionesco is making another historic moment in her career by being the first WNBA player to compete in a 3-Point Shooting Challenge during the NBA’s All-Star weekend.

Ionescu was selected as the No.1 pick in the 2020 WNBA draft. This was the first time in Oregon’s program history. Her stats are absolutely insane. A notable take away from her lengthy resume is that she was the first player (female or male) in NCAA history with 2,000 career points (2,562), 1,000 career rebounds (1,040) and 1,000 career assists (1,091 NCAA overall (female or male). Check out the rest of her stats, here. It is safe to say that making history is no stranger to Ionescu.

This will be the first ever NBA vs WNBA 3-Point Challenge for All-Star Saturday Night on February 17, 2024. Two amazing players that are a major face to their league going head-to-head is going to be worth watching. Not only will it be entertaining, but this is an important moment of unity in sports. Ionescu has been balling since she was young and her game has only gotten better and better. She has changed the game and brought attention to her craft. An event like this is important for the future of the WNBA and allows female athletes to be seen in a different light rather than overlooked because of their gender.
The 3-Point Challenge is also an opportunity to raise money for the charity of the players choosing. The NBA and WNBA will donate to Curry’s Eat.Learn.Play. nonprofit and Ionescu’s SI20 Foundation. State Farm will donate to the NBA Foundation for each shot made by Curry and Ionescu. That donation will support economic empowerment in the Black community.
I cannot wait to tune in on Saturday, Feb. 17 and witness a fellow Duck be an ultimate Girlboss. Go Sabrina!
